A brisk AM in Cardiff

I was checking out Pipes this morning thinking it's probably a good day to go into work early since i have a lot of work to do and the waves were looking a little weak. Then i talked to my friend who i saw driving south bound and he told me to meet him up where he was (i'm not telling you where but you may figure it out from the pictures). As it turns out i didn't get to work early after seeing these waves. A brisk offshore wind was blowing so it was a good morning for the hoodie with the 4/3. You guys missed out!!

Fun surf hits the Shores

Finally we surfers of the Shores got some fun surf over the last week. Long over due and maybe even over crowded but i'm happy to see the hole wake up and produce it's nice lined up rights for a change. Watching Tom Ortner do what he does is always something special and i'm sure i'm not the only one that feels that way. Cheers!

Cardiff Reef Oct 16, 09

Our official first decent sized NW swell to kick off the fall came in yesterday. If anyone had a chance to look at Swamis yesterday you'd know it was pretty epic all day long and super crowded. As far as this morning goes, clean conditions with the tide being a little on the fat side. Still some fun sets coming in solid head high lining up with soft shoulders. I didn't really have enough time this morning to paddle out so i took some pictures. Enjoy.

New Oldenburg Pintail Noserider

The story goes, i got this board from a trade i did with my friend Gino. I'm a big fan of pin tail surfboards and longboards and this one is pretty sweet. Josh Oldenburg is an up and coming shaper in San Diego and has some sick boards that he's making. He nailed this one on the head for sure. Noserides high and stable, turns sweet and trims okay. It would trim better with less concave but i like the blended concave for lift and stability on the nose. Good job Josh!

Pipes dawn patrol 10-13

For those that didn't think it was going to be good today, you missed out. Uncrowded, ESE wind lightly blowing on the fun lined up chest+ waves.

Swamis Contest Oct 10th & 11th

Here are some photos of the Swamis Contest that was held at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. Surfers in photos range from Meatball, Chuck Norris and Limo Peter. Contest had playful knee to waist high waves and was fun overall.
